The Strong® Announces Fall Dates for
Museum Mondays for Seniors

Mondays, October 1, November 5 & December 3: America at Play Guided Tour

Delight in a guided tour of the America at Play exhibit during Museum Mondays for Seniors on October 1, November 5, and December 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A museum staff member is your guide through more than 300 years of American cultural history in this 20-minute tour. Revisit your childhood as you get up close with some of America’s rarest and most iconic playthings. See the first handmade Monopoly set created by Charles Darrow, trace the impact of World War II on toys, marvel at the world’s largest Erector Set, and more. This experience includes general admission to explore the museum before or after the guided tour.

Mondays, October 15, 22 & 29; November 26; and December 10 & 17: Butterfly Garden Experience

Explore the museum’s exhibit spaces and Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden during Museum Mondays for Seniors on October 15, 22 and 29; November 26; and December 10 and 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stroll through the museum’s butterfly garden—a lush, tropical environment featuring hundreds of brilliantly colored, free-flying tropical and native butterflies—as you take part in nature play, a favorite pastime of museum founder Margaret Woodbury Strong. Be sure to visit the chrysalis case to see emerging butterflies.

Monday, November 19: Robert C. Postal Toy Soldier Day

Join The Strong for a special Museum Mondays for Seniors experience on November 19. Enjoy a brief presentation by curator Michelle Parnett-Dwyer on the pageantry, pomp, and color of toy military figures at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. Discover the fascination behind toy soldiers, planes, tanks, and other war-related playthings. Check out a diverse sample of international militaries shown in toy form, including the United States Confederate and Union soldiers, Japanese samurai armies, and Indian battalions complete with elephants. This experience includes general admission to explore the museum after the 11 a.m. presentation or before the 2 p.m. presentation.

Tickets for Museum Mondays for Seniors are $10 and may be purchased online or by calling Guest Information Services at 585-263-2700. These experiences are for adults 55 and older. Photo ID is required at the time of the visit. Robert C. Postal Toy Soldier Day is made possible through the support of Carole Postal.
